blog candy

Sorry I have nothing new to show you today of my own work...I've been very sick again the last few days...will it ever end?  Yes, I think the end is in sight.

In the mean time, The Daily marker is having a blog candy giveaway.  Just click onto the sidebar photo on the right, you too can enter this great give away.  Good luck to you too - I however would prefer to win, but I will share with someone if they live close enough ;)  ok - the sidebar photo didn't paste - remember I'm still VERY new at this...but it is in the "blogs I follow" section called The Daily Marker

Autumn adventures

Well, well, well! Here I am again...I was hit with a nasty flu last Sunday, and have slowly begun to feel better.  Everything ached everywhere! and I'm still having difficulty sleeping at night, and do not have much energy during the day...this gets us to today where I've done my first layout in over a week!  I've gotten some cards done.  Our family is also going through some losses this weekend.  My aunt Marilyn Archer of Calgary lost her very courageous battle with cancer on Thursday evening, and Brad's aunt Jean Seaton of Cambridge died last evening also having battled with cancer.  It is a sad house right now, but life will move forward.  Jean's funeral is set for Wednesday at 11, while Marilyn's is on Tuesday.  My parents were able to fly today along with dad's other 5 siblings and spouses to be with her husband and 5 children (and spouses) and many foster children.

So today, knowing that both women really enjoyed the outdoors in almost any season, especially the fall, I did a two page layout of the adventure my family went on while I was sick in bed on Monday afternoon.  Our family tradition is to head to Waterloo to enjoy the Oktoberfest parade, but there was no way I was driving.  So, we watched it on TV all bundled up on the sofa nice and warm and cozy!

materials used:  PP- Basic gray, Crate paper; cardstock - Bazzill; stamps - Studio g; Ink - Tim Holtz (walnut stain, forest moss, rusty hinge); black brads - MME; colour copy of passport; tread: - Coats; green ribbon - Ruban; twine; title, other ribbon, 3 leaves, buttons, fabric flower, and doilies - all from a fall themed swap held at The Scrapping Nook Ltd.  in Welland. ~ thanks Ladies! ~  this was based on a sketch by Becky Fleck's Pagemaps October 2010

And here is the card I had made for Aunt Jean - we were planning on visiting on Tuesday.  So instead, we will be giving it to Uncle Doug.  When they were able, they came and visited, and I remember Jean commenting on our cute little cottage "way up north" - so we thought we'd take a photo of our fall display and put it on a card...this is what I came up with:

materials used:  crate paper, studio g and Martha Stewart stamps, unknown ribbon and staples, Tim Holtz walnut stain ink.

calendar

So, I was looking for a cute calendar to record meetings, appointments etc.  and they were all very expensive (like in the $20-$50 range)... so I bought a notebook for about $5, and altered it.  It took me about 2 hours to alter the whole thing, and make all of the calendar pages - and it was fun:

materials used:  pp and letter stickers:  basic grey, twine and scraps of ribbon.
inside:  I used lots of scrap letters to make each of the months up.

New

My cousin, Heather and her husband, Joel had their first child, a daughter this past week.  I've made a card for them. (my I've made a lot of cards lately!!)  Here it is:

materials used:  bazzill cardstock; fancy pants patterned paper and rubons, ???ribbon and UHU gluestick

I know! I used glue stick (I just couldn't find the scrapbook adhesive fast enough, and my boys were crafting at the time...)
Today has been dinner preparation here!  The boys and I have made 3 apple and 3 pumpkin pies; applesauce and regular dinner.  It sure smells yummy.

Sweetheart

I am a HUGE fan of Page Maps...and on Thursday September 30, Becky Fleck posted a contest that is sponsored by ally scraps.  Here is the sketch for the contest:

and here is my take:

I did a mirror image of the sketch, because I have a second LO of that party beside this one in my book, and I felt this looked better.  Sydney is my sister's first born.  She is a cutie, and just wasn't feeling well that day - so she didn't know what to do with the cake!

Materials used:  BasicGrey patterned paper "Olivia" line.  (The green background paper I chose is called "Sydney")  adhesive:  scrapbook adhesives; ribbon:  Offray; title, journalling spots and circles:  OLD stash;
pen:  Staedtler; thread

I can't believe I'm making Christmas cards!!!  The two examples below are from an exchange I'm part of at Two Scrapbook Friends.  10 gals are participating.  Everyone makes 9 cards and swaps - pretty cool idea, (and it gets me started a bit earlier than previous years)  Here they are:

materials used:  Patterned paper:  Bo Bunny; Cricut "woodland" cartridge; lace:  my stash; ink:  Ranger;
circles:  OLD stash

First of many I hope

Well, here I am...my first ever blog post!!!!  I've been following many others in their quest to be bloggers...and I thought I'd give it a try.  I've just come from "Vanilla Bean Creations:  It's my Blog" and Char is celebrating her 1st bloganniversary!!  She is giving away some cool stuff too!!! Congratulations to Char.  And part of the reason for me to finally do this.   http://vanillabeancreations.blogspot.com/2010/10/its-my-blog-versary-giveaway.html

Today being Sunday, it is a really busy day here.  Worship at 11:30 today because we're heading to Lions Head, and then my 5 year old has a birthday party after lunch.  Life wouldn't be as enjoyable I don't think if it wasn't busy.

Well there you have it!  My first ever blog post.  I'm hoping to beable to share some of my creative side with this too.
